Questions and answers about the product

Can the scrub be used on the face?

The abrasive, i.e. the exfoliating ingredient in our plum scrub, is cane sugar, whose crystals are hard and have relatively sharp edges. This type of abrasive is definitely too strong for the delicate skin of the face and could cause irritation and micro-damage. So we strongly recommend using Plum from the neck down ;). For facial cleansing, we recommend our scrub in a tube - Halva.

Can I buy a smaller jar of the scrub or a sample?
Unfortunately, at the moment we only sell the scrub in one size - large 300 g jars.
Can I take the scrub on a plane?

This is one of those questions we can't answer with 100% certainty. In theory, the contents of the scrub, as a solid substance, are measured in grams rather than millilitres - so it shouldn't be classified as a liquid subject to the 100 ml limit. In practice, however, we know that during hand luggage checks at the airport our Customers have more than once had to throw the whole jar of scrub in the bin :(. To be safe, we recommend packing the scrub in your checked luggage or, unfortunately, leaving it at home :(.

Is the scrub oily?
The Plum scrub is packed to the brim with wonderful oils - including plum oil, sweet almond oil, grape seed oil and avocado oil. It also contains unrefined shea and cocoa butters and beeswax (straight from the hive!). Strictly speaking, the scrub doesn't "swim" in oil - its texture is more like wet sand :). After using Plum, a delicate, protective oil film remains on the skin. So let's say it's a rich scrub, but not really that greasy ;).
When I use the scrub, the sugar crumbles off a bit - how can I deal with that?
To keep the sugar from crumbling off during the massage, after scooping the scrub into your hand, try cupping it slightly into a "boat" shape so that it stays close to your body while massaging and holds the sugar against your skin.
Can the scrub irritate my skin?
Applied with gentle, circular movements, the plum scrub absolutely shouldn't irritate the skin. However, since the abrasive in our scrub is coarse cane sugar, to minimise the risk of irritation we recommend using it no more often than once every few days. As our scrub contains over a dozen ingredients, please also watch out for any sensitivities or allergies - if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, please do not use the scrub on your skin. We also don't recommend using the scrub on irritated skin (e.g. right after laser hair removal, a new tattoo or sunbathing).
Is the scrub strongly abrasive or rather lightly exfoliating?
We call the Plum scrub a gentle "coarse one" - although it is coarse-grained, the carefully selected blend of oils and butters softens the sharpness of the particles :). Thanks to this perfect balance, it exfoliates well yet gently. How abrasive it feels largely depends on how much pressure you apply, so that's how you can control its intensity.
Is the scrub fine or rather coarse?
Our plum scrub is based on cane sugar - so it is rather coarse-grained, but the perfectly selected blend of oils and butters ideally "coats" the particles, so the product isn't too sharp. It's a very gentle "coarse one" :).
Do I need to apply body lotion after using your scrub?
Thanks to its high content of oils and butters, after a massage with our scrub your skin is deeply nourished, more supple and soft to the touch. The Plum scrub leaves a delicate protective layer on the skin and supports the epidermis's natural renewal. In our opinion, a lotion is no longer necessary, but we leave that up to your personal preference :).
How many uses does one jar of scrub last?
It's hard to give a definitive answer, as it really depends on the person. Some scoop out just a little, while others are quite generous - sometimes massaging themselves "from head to toe", sometimes exfoliating only selected areas. Averaging our Customers' experiences, we'd say one jar of scrub lasts for a dozen or more uses :).
What is the texture of the scrub like?
Our scrub has a loose, crumbly texture - a carefully balanced amount of oils and butters soaks the cane sugar through. During massage, the sugar granules buff away dead skin, leaving a delicate, oily film behind. Your skin stays soft and smooth to the touch :). To preserve all the properties of the scrub, keep it away from the bath/shower and use a portion set aside in a small bowl beforehand. This prevents water from getting into the scrub while you bathe and stops the sugar from clumping on contact with warm water.
Isn't it heavy because of the glass jar?
There's no denying it - a glass jar plus 300 grams of contents certainly weighs more than a similar product in plastic packaging. That's why we recommend taking extra care when using the scrub in the bathroom and avoiding picking it up with wet hands, when it can easily slip and fall. The scrub, your shower tray or bathtub, and your own feet will all thank you ;).
Does the scent linger on the skin after rinsing off the scrub?
Here we'd like to let our Customers speak - according to them, the scent stays on the skin for quite a long time, without being too heavy or overpowering, but rather pleasant and "good enough to eat" :).
Do the oils in the scrub stay on the skin after rinsing?
Yes - the oils in the scrub remain on the skin as a delicate, protective film with a wonderful scent - so there's no need to use a body lotion afterwards :).
Is it suitable for use after shaving/hair removal?
Depending on the hair removal method, skin after shaving is more or less prone to irritation or even micro-damage. In that state, it definitely shouldn't be exfoliated further - so to be safe, we advise postponing your scrub for a few days :). Thanks to the massage, the scrub will help delay ingrown hairs after hair removal :).
Can the empty scrub jar be reused for food?
Absolutely! We're big fans of reusing glass cosmetic packaging, and we encourage you to do the same :). Just make sure to wash the jar thoroughly and scald it with boiling water before reusing.
Can it be used during pregnancy?
The scrub can be used by pregnant women, as long as you massage your growing belly gently. Please bear in mind, however, that its intense, sweet aroma may not suit those who are very sensitive to scents :).
Does it reduce stretch marks and cellulite?
Regular skin massage stimulates circulation and improves elasticity, which can help prevent loss of firmness. However, skincare alone may not deliver satisfying results without a proper diet and enough exercise :). Unfortunately, scrubbing won't remove established stretch marks, but it will help limit new ones from appearing and does a much better job with cellulite.
Does the scrub have a moisturising effect?

We proudly present the results of consumer tests for our individual cosmetics on our website. In the case of Plum, as many as 93% of participants* say it leaves skin feeling moisturised and nourished :). We can only add that the scrub leaves a delicate protective layer on the skin that helps prevent moisture loss from the epidermis :).
