Cleansing and Makeup Removal

Gentle and effective cleansing of the face, neck and décolletage

We care for our facial skin every day - supporting its regeneration, moisturising and nourishing it with creams, oils, serums, SPF and masks. We wear full or light makeup, or skip it altogether. Whatever cosmetics we use, all kinds of impurities build up and mix on the skin during the day - sweat, sebum, skincare products, makeup and more. To let our skin breathe and support its proper functioning, we should also (and above all) take care of thorough daily cleansing, both morning and evening. Cleansing cosmetics remove accumulated impurities that harbour free radicals, which damage the cells responsible for, among other things, collagen and elastin production. As a result, skin that is cleansed poorly or incorrectly shows signs of ageing sooner - it loses firmness, turns dull and feels rougher to the touch. Regular cleansing therefore helps prevent premature skin ageing, reduces the risk of imperfections, blackheads and irritation, restores a healthy, fresh and radiant look, and prepares the skin to absorb the active ingredients in the masks, moisturisers and nourishing serums used to care for the face, neck and décolletage.

How to cleanse your face properly?

The best way to cleanse the face, neck and décolletage is the one that meets your skin's current, individual needs :). What matters, however, is the order and the way you use your chosen products. The first step of the evening routine is makeup removal, to get rid of heavy, oily impurities such as sweat, sebum and residues of creams, SPF and makeup - for this, reach for a gentle cleansing oil. A soft facial massage with oils dissolves what is unnecessary while protecting what matters to your skin. With OCM (Oil Cleansing Method) you can use single-ingredient oils (e.g. sweet almond oil - check out our range of oils here) or a blend specially composed for this purpose.

In the Ministerstwo range you will find the Róża-Malina hydrophilic oil, dedicated to makeup removal and face washing. It is based on natural, nourishing plant oils (including rice bran oil and unrefined rosehip and raspberry seed oils), enriched with precious vitamin E and gentle emulsifiers. Who is oil cleansing for? Everyone! Whatever your skin type, you can benefit from oil cleansing - just take a look at the composition and action of the oil you choose and match it to your skin's current needs. OCM works especially well for dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin, as it doesn't disrupt the protective layer that may react badly to harsher cleansers (such as gels). Oily and combination skin will also benefit from oil cleansing - frequent use of strongly cleansing products can damage the skin's natural barrier and lead to excess sebum production as the skin starts to defend itself. If you feel any discomfort after using a cleansing oil, you can wash off any residue with a gentle foam.

When removing makeup, it is important not to rub the skin, as this may cause irritation. Apply your chosen cleanser (milk, oil) to a cotton pad or a clean cloth, place it e.g. on the eyelid and wait a moment for the ingredients to dissolve the makeup, then gently wipe the pad/cloth away. A makeup removal oil can also be applied directly to clean (!) hands and gently massaged into the face and eyelids with your fingertips to dissolve accumulated impurities. The Róża-Malina hydrophilic oil is very easy to use - thanks to gentle yet effective emulsifiers, it combines with water and turns into a milky emulsion, making it easy to rinse the oil off completely together with the impurities. After using Róża-Malina, skin is left soft, smooth to the touch and, above all, clean, refreshed and ready for the next steps of your routine.

Gentle face wash foam - Morela

Sometimes a cleansing oil alone is not enough (depending, among other things, on skin type and the amount and kind of impurities), or we feel the need to wash off oil residue. In that case, use a water-based product - a face wash foam or a gentle gel. Morela from Ministerstwo is a natural, gentle and pleasantly scented foam for daily cleansing of the face, neck and décolletage, ideal for morning and evening use by women, men and teenagers alike. Rich in fruit extracts (including apricot, lemon and orange), nourishing fructooligosaccharides and mild cleansing agents, it cleanses pleasantly and effectively, leaving skin refreshed without any unpleasant tightness or dryness.

Using the foam as the second cleansing step, we wash away anything that may have been left after the first step and (especially for skin prone to congestion) minimise the risk of clogged pores. After thorough cleansing, remember to restore your skin's proper pH - use gentle toners or hydrosols suited to its current needs.

The face, neck and décolletage should be cleansed morning and evening - in the morning we wash away residues of night-time skincare, excess sebum and sweat, and in the evening we remove the impurities accumulated throughout the day as well as makeup, SPF and more. Cleansing with an oil as step 1 and a foam as step 2 works perfectly in both morning and evening routines. While in the morning (depending on your skin's needs and the products you use) you may opt for just one step (e.g. the foam), in the evening, when your skin is more burdened after the whole day, double cleansing will be a real blessing, whether your skin is dry, oily or combination.

Regular facial exfoliation

Scrubs are one of the most important steps in facial cleansing - they deeply cleanse pores and exfoliate dead skin cells, leaving skin refreshed, soft and smooth to the touch. They also boost the absorption of active ingredients in creams, oils, serums and masks. Regular use of facial scrubs supports and speeds up the skin's natural renewal, reduces the risk of imperfections and slows down skin ageing, so you can enjoy healthy-looking, radiant skin.

Unlike hydrosols, foams or cleansing oils, however, they are not meant for daily use - limit them to 1-2 times a week. Why? Because they cleanse and exfoliate deeply. Exfoliating too often can have the opposite effect - the skin starts to defend itself, may become more reactive and prone to irritation, and produce excess sebum.

Grainy scrubs (such as Chałwa from the Ministerstwo range) should be applied with clean fingers to cleansed, damp skin of the face, neck and décolletage, gently massaged in circular motions (avoiding the eye area) and rinsed off thoroughly. The strength and intensity of the scrub depend on your preferences and the pressure of your hands - so the treatment can be very gentle or more intense. After rinsing, continue with the next steps of your routine - if needed, tone your skin by spritzing it with your favourite hydrosol, then apply your favourite moisturising cream or nourishing face serum/oil.
