Lip balms and lipsticks
Our lips do so much - they help us drink and eat, speak, kiss and be kissed... Nature gave them such an important role, yet left them poorly protected: they are richly supplied with blood vessels and nerves, covered with thin skin lacking a horny layer, and they have no sebaceous glands to keep them properly lubricated and prevent moisture loss. That is why our lips react so strongly to external factors such as dry air, frost or wind, and are so prone to dryness and cracking. Lip care is unisex - although men's skin is usually thicker and has more sebaceous glands, this difference does not apply to the lips. Women may simply have a bit more motivation to look after them: even the most expensive lipstick won't look good on chapped lips, and it will only highlight dry flakes.
