Why plant wax candles?

Candles made from a blend of plant waxes are long-lasting, burn slowly and have a low melting point. Soy, sunflower and sumac berry waxes are renewable and biodegradable, and the candles made from them are vegan-friendly. They produce virtually no smoke or soot when burning, so you can safely enjoy them indoors - in the living room, bedroom or bathroom during a long soak. Each candle comes in a 120 ml glass jar with a screw lid and, with proper care, burns for around 24 hours in total.

Every scent tells a story

1986 is the scent of autumn and winter evenings: strong brewed tea, oranges, homemade fruit and nut cake, warming spices and mulled wine. Its notes include orange, cinnamon, tonka, vanilla and a balsamic accord.

1994 smells of the family home and books read under the duvet - hot cocoa, milk chocolates and butter cookies. It is the sweetest of our candles, with notes of cocoa, cookies, vanilla and nuts.

1952 takes you back to a completely different era: eau de cologne, the heady atmosphere of dance halls, tobacco smoke and red fizzy pop. Behind this memory lies a rich floral-fruity composition: thyme, orange peel, candied fruit, rose, sage, jasmine, honey, wood, musk, tonka and baked apples.

How to burn a soy candle so it lasts as long as possible

The first and every following burn should last at least until the entire top layer of wax has melted, but no longer than 3 hours. This way the wax melts evenly, without tunnelling around the wick. Before relighting, trim the wick to about 0.5 cm. Place the candle on a stable surface with free space above the flame, away from net curtains, drapes, books, draughts and fans, and don't move it while it's burning, as the jar may be hot. The flame is best put out with a metal bell-shaped snuffer. And most importantly: a candle needs your attention - never leave it unattended, never fall asleep while it's lit, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.

A scented candle as a gift, and a second life for the jar

Candles are one of those gifts that always come in handy, and our vintages also make a great addition to cosmetics - ideally paired with gift wrapping. Once the candle has burned down, nothing needs to go to waste: put the lid in the metal and plastics recycling bin, and the glass jar - once washed - can go in the glass recycling or be reused as a container for small odds and ends.
