Mastic gum (mastic tree resin)

Mastic is the resin of the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus var. chia), hand-harvested from cuts in the bark of trees growing on the island of Chios. It has been prized in cosmetics and Mediterranean folk tradition since antiquity.

In skincare, mastic has a rejuvenating effect: it energizes skin cells and supports the production of so-called youth proteins linked to skin renewal processes (including klotho and FOXO). As a result, skin looks firmer, more elastic and well-rested.

You will find it in our anti-wrinkle creams and serums.

Did you know?: Genuine mastic comes only from trees growing in the south of the Greek island of Chios. The resin drops flowing from cuts in the bark are called the "tears of Chios"
