Sodium Castorate

Sodium castorate (saponified castor oil)

Sodium castorate forms when castor oil reacts with sodium hydroxide during saponification. So it isn't an additive to soap but part of it - it is simply soap made from castor oil.

Castor oil makes soap lather fine, creamy and long-lasting, and gives the bar a gentler wash. You'll find it in our natural soaps, including our exfoliating and hypoallergenic ones.

Did you know?: Traditional soap ingredient lists don't name oils, but their salts - because during saponification oil turns into soap and glycerin
