Proline

Proline is an amino acid naturally found in the skin - in proteins such as collagen and in the natural moisturising factor (NMF) of the stratum corneum. In cosmetics it acts as a humectant, attracting and holding water in the epidermis.

It helps keep skin soft and supple, reduces the feeling of tightness after cleansing, and supports hydration and smoothness in hair. It complements other NMF components such as sodium PCA and sodium lactate.
