Sodium PCA

Sodium PCA

Sodium PCA (the sodium salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid) is an ingredient the skin produces itself - it is part of the natural moisturizing factor (NMF) found in the stratum corneum. It is a powerful humectant, meaning it attracts and binds water.

In cosmetics, it replenishes what the skin loses through cleansing, dry air or winter weather. It moisturizes, softens the skin and eases the feeling of tightness without leaving a sticky film. It pairs well with amino acids, glycerin and hyaluronic acid.

In our range, you'll find it in micellar waters, facial cleansing foam, creams, serums and hydrating foundations.

Did you know?: PCA is formed in the skin from the amino acid glutamic acid. It is one of the most important components of the NMF - the blend the epidermis uses to hold on to water.
