Patchouli oil

Patchouli oil is obtained by steam distillation of dried leaves of patchouli (Pogostemon cablin), a shrub from the mint family native to tropical Asia. It has a thick consistency and an intense, earthy scent with woody and slightly sweet notes.

In perfumery, it is valued as a fixative - it makes fragrances last longer and gives them depth. Unlike many oils, it doesn't lose its aroma with age but becomes more rounded. In skincare, it is associated with refreshing and smoothing the skin.

In our cosmetics, patchouli oil is part of the fragrance blends of hand creams, body lotions, bath bombs, shower gel, soaps and hair styling products.

Did you know?: In the 19th century, fabrics imported from India were packed with dried patchouli leaves to protect them from moths. That's why in Europe the scent of patchouli was long associated with luxurious oriental shawls.
