Sodium Cocoa Butterate
Saponified cocoa butter
Sodium Cocoa Butterate is cocoa butter after saponification. During soapmaking, the fat reacts with sodium hydroxide and turns into soap, that is, fatty acid salts - the finished bar contains no lye.
Cocoa butter is rich in stearic and palmitic acids, making the soap hard, slow to go soft and able to produce a thick, creamy lather. You'll find it in our natural soaps, including our exfoliating ones.
Did you know?: Cocoa butter melts at close to body temperature - that's why chocolate melts in your mouth.
