Vanillin
Vanillin
Vanillin is the compound responsible for the characteristic scent of vanilla. It forms naturally in the pods of the vanilla orchid, but because natural vanilla is so expensive, the vast majority of the world's vanillin is produced by other methods.
In cosmetics, it serves as a fragrance ingredient, creating sweet, warm, dessert-like notes. You will find it in our soaps, balms, scrubs, hand cream and hair styling products.
Did you know?: Tiny white crystals sometimes appear on ripe, well-cured vanilla pods - this is pure vanillin
