Trehalose
Trehalose
Trehalose is a disaccharide made up of two glucose molecules. In nature, it is produced by plants, fungi and some tiny animals to protect their cells from the effects of dehydration.
In cosmetics, trehalose binds water and helps retain it in the epidermis. It protects the skin from dryness, reduces the feeling of tightness and smooths rough skin. It works well with other sugars in moisturising complexes.
You will find it in our face creams and serums, moisturising toner, night cream-mask and facial cleansing foam.
Did you know?: Trehalose helps so-called resurrection plants survive drought - such as the rose of Jericho, which dries out completely and comes back to life once watered
