Potassium Sorbate

Potassium sorbate

Potassium sorbate is the potassium salt of sorbic acid. It is also well known in the food industry, where it has long been used to preserve cheese, bread and fruit preserves, among others. In cosmetics, it works best in a slightly acidic environment.

Every cosmetic containing water needs protection against microorganisms to stay safe throughout its use. Potassium sorbate protects it primarily against mould and yeast. In our range, you will find it in body lotions, creams, shampoos, foundations and micellar waters, among others.

Did you know?: Sorbic acid, from which potassium sorbate is made, was first isolated from rowan berries - hence the name, derived from the Latin "Sorbus".
