Sucrose
Sucrose (sugar)
Sucrose is sugar obtained from sugar cane or sugar beet. In cosmetics it plays two roles. As fine crystals, it is a natural exfoliant in scrubs: it gently removes dead skin cells and gradually dissolves on contact with water, so it doesn't scratch the skin.
Dissolved in a formula, it acts as a humectant - it binds water, moisturizes and softens the skin. It is often combined with other sugars, such as glucose and fructose, which together help keep skin in good condition.
In our range you'll find it in body and lip scrubs, face creams, serums and toners, as well as in hair conditioners and styling products.
Did you know?: The word "sugar" comes, via Arabic and Latin, from the Sanskrit "sharkara", meaning gravel or sugar crystals
