Around the world with Ministerstwo - how to carry cosmetics in your hand luggage

How do you pack for a trip? Journeys big and small can be quite a logistical challenge, especially when your chosen means of transport imposes limits on the quantity, weight or dimensions of your luggage. The greatest difficulty of course comes with flying with hand luggage only: a wash bag taken on board may contain liquid products only in containers of 100 ml or less, up to a total of one litre (1000 ml). The longer the trip, the more packing it to meet those requirements can feel like a game of Tetris for advanced players ;)

Step one is working out which products you will actually need during that time - what must go with you, and what can be bought and used up entirely on the spot before the journey home? Step two is checking which cosmetics you can take whole and which have to be decanted into smaller travel containers beforehand. Finally, there is the question of how to pack them into a suitcase, backpack or cabin bag - because we must not forget that for the security check at the airport all bottles and jars containing liquids have to be placed in a transparent outer bag. Phew! At every airport, in the departures hall, you can buy a plastic bag for a small fee and then transfer the contents of your wash bag into it before the check. Such bags, however, are not only disproportionately expensive but above all usually flimsy, single-use and completely unecological, since we throw them in the bin once we land :(

And this, dear friends, is where the... transparent cavalry rides in ;) The sturdy vinyl wash bags by Kacase, designed by Aneta Kacprzak. They meet airline requirements, and thanks to their see-through walls the contents are right there within reach, doing away with any frantic repacking of cosmetics at the airport during the security check - a saving of time, of nerves, and what organisation! The material they are made of is resistant to abrasion, deformation and extreme temperatures, so a transparent wash bag can serve you for years, wherever you take it, and accompany you on journeys by any means of transport :)

We would like to remind you that the rules mentioned above naturally concern carrying cosmetics in liquid form, taken on board the plane in hand luggage. The limits on the number of products and their containers do not apply to solid cosmetics, nor to those packed in checked luggage travelling in the hold.

Unfortunately, we know from experience that despite their solid form and a volume given in grams rather than millilitres, airport staff sometimes refuse to allow the following in hand luggage:

  • the balm sticks Banana, Baobab, Choco-Cinnamon and Plum,
  • the nourishing Plum body scrub,
  • shea butter.

So if you were planning to take them on a trip (as gifts for loved ones living abroad, for instance), we strongly recommend packing them in your checked luggage or choosing another product from the list below instead. After all, nobody would want to be forced to throw a brand new plum scrub in the bin, right?!

Which Ministerstwo cosmetics can you safely take in your hand luggage?

  • all soaps, bath hemispheres and shampoo bars,
  • the Saffron body balm bar,
  • the face creams Rose-Raspberry Jam and H2O,
  • the face serums Rose-Raspberry, Sugar and Rice + Ceramides,
  • the Rose-Raspberry + Xymenynic Acid eye elixir,
  • the Honey lip balm-mask and lip scrub,
  • all 100% oils in sizes up to 100 ml, and hydrosols,
  • clays and calamine,
  • the Green Tea beard oil,
  • samples,
  • glitter ;)

Which MDM cosmetics are not suitable for carrying in hand luggage?

  • the Apricot facial cleansing foam (200 ml),
  • the Rose-Raspberry hydrophilic cleansing oil (140 ml),
  • the Halva cleansing and exfoliating paste (120 ml),
  • the light Saffron body lotion (160 ml) and the body mousses Saffron and Flax and Hemp (120 ml),
  • oils in 140 ml bottles....

...unless you transfer a portion of the product into a travel jar or bottle smaller than 100 ml :)

We wish you nothing but wonderful journeys!
