Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Copernicia Cerifera Wax
Carnauba wax
Carnauba wax comes from the leaves of the Copernicia prunifera (cerifera) palm, which grows in north-eastern Brazil. The palm coats its leaves with wax to protect them from moisture loss in the hot climate. The wax is scraped from the dried leaves and purified.
In cosmetics, it gives firmness and stability to balms and styling products, raises their melting point and adds a subtle shine. On the skin, it forms a protective layer that limits moisture loss, and on hair it helps hold your style.
In our cosmetics, you'll find it in body balms and hair styling clays. It's a great plant-based alternative to beeswax.
Did you know?: Carnauba wax is one of the hardest natural waxes. Beyond cosmetics, it's used to polish cars and as a glaze on candies.
