Ricinus Communis Seed Oil, Ricinus Communis Oil
Castor oil
Castor oil is pressed from the seeds of the castor bean plant (Ricinus communis). It is exceptionally thick and sticky because it consists mostly of ricinoleic acid - a fatty acid rarely found in other oils.
It forms a flexible layer on the skin that helps limit water loss, nourishes and softens the skin. It gives cosmetics shine and glide, which is why it has long been an ingredient in lipsticks and lip balms. In hair, it smooths the strands and adds shine, and applied to the base of brows and lashes it helps care for them.
In our cosmetics, you will find castor oil in our body lotions, protective lip balms, face cream and serum, body scrub, hair conditioner and beard oil.
Did you know?: Castor seeds contain toxic ricin, but this protein stays in the press cake and does not pass into the oil, which is why castor oil is safe in cosmetics
