Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter
Cocoa butter
Cocoa butter is pressed from fermented and roasted cocoa beans. At room temperature it is hard and brittle, but on contact with the skin it melts quickly and spreads easily. Unrefined, it has a delicate chocolate scent.
It is rich in fatty acids (mainly stearic, palmitic and oleic). It forms a protective layer on the skin that limits water loss, and it nourishes and softens rough skin. It works beautifully for dry skin and chapped lips, especially in winter.
In our cosmetics, cocoa butter gives structure and nourishing properties to body balms, lip balms, hand creams and scrubs. We also add it to our shampoo bars.
Did you know?: The cocoa tree's genus name, Theobroma, means "food of the gods" in Greek. Cocoa butter melts at close to body temperature, which is why it softens in your hands.
