Lysine HCl, Lysine

Lysine

Lysine is one of the amino acids that make up proteins, including keratin and collagen. In cosmetics, it is most often used as a hydrochloride (Lysine HCl), which is stable and dissolves easily in water.

Together with other amino acids, it forms part of the natural moisturizing factor (NMF) found in the stratum corneum. It helps bind water in the epidermis, softens it and supports its elasticity, while also replenishing what the skin loses during cleansing.

In our cosmetics, lysine is part of an amino acid complex in micellar waters, facial cleansing foams, creams, serums, foundations and lip balms.

Did you know?: Lysine is an essential amino acid - the human body cannot produce it on its own and must get it from food.
