Limonene

Limonene

Limonene is a fragrance compound found in the highest amounts in citrus peels - orange, lemon or grapefruit - but it also occurs in many other essential oils. In our cosmetics, it appears as a natural part of essential oils and fragrance compositions.

EU law requires limonene, like other known fragrance allergens, to be listed by name in the ingredients. This allows people with allergies to easily recognise and avoid it. You will find it in body lotions, hand creams, soaps, bath bombs, oils and hair care products, among others.

Did you know?: Limonene comes in two mirror-image forms: one smells of orange, the other more of resin and pine needles.
