Ectoin
Ectoin
Ectoin is a small molecule produced by microorganisms living in extreme conditions - in salt lakes, under intense sun and high temperatures. It protects their cells from dehydration and stress. For cosmetics, it is obtained through a biotechnological process.
Ectoin surrounds cellular structures with a protective water shell. This helps it soothe the skin, reduce reactivity and redness, strengthen the protective barrier and help shield the skin from external factors such as pollution, dry air and sun. It also supports epidermal renewal.
We especially recommend it for sensitive skin prone to irritation. You will find it in our soothing face cream.
Did you know?: Ectoin was discovered in bacteria living in a very salty desert lake - its name comes from the genus of these bacteria, Ectothiorhodospira.
