Sodium chloride (salt)

Sodium chloride is the same salt you have in your kitchen. In cleansing cosmetics such as shower gels and shampoos, it works as a thickener - it influences how the cleansing molecules arrange themselves, giving the product a pleasant, gel-like texture.
