Arachidyl Alcohol

Arachidyl alcohol

Arachidyl alcohol is a so-called fatty alcohol - a waxy, plant-derived substance completely different from ethanol. It is often part of plant-based emulsifiers together with behenyl alcohol and arachidyl glucoside.

In a cream it helps bind the water and oil phases, stabilizes the emulsion and gives it a rich, creamy texture. On the skin it acts as an emollient - softening and smoothing. You'll find it in our smoothing night cream-mask.

Did you know?: Arachidic acid, from which arachidyl alcohol is derived, owes its name to peanuts (Arachis hypogaea), whose oil contains it
