Rhus Verniciflua Peel Cera

Sumac fruit wax

Sumac fruit wax comes from the lacquer tree (Rhus verniciflua), native to East Asia. It is obtained from the skin of the fruit. It is a plant-based alternative to beeswax - with a creamy texture that softens gently on the skin.

In cosmetics, it gives products a solid yet pliable form, and on the skin it creates a thin layer that helps reduce moisture loss and shields against wind and frost. You will find it in our body balms, protective lip balms and lip scrub.

Did you know?: The lacquer tree is the source of sap used for centuries to make traditional Asian lacquer. The wax, however, comes from the fruit, not the sap.
