Helianthus Annuus Seed Wax
Sunflower wax
Sunflower wax occurs naturally in sunflower seed husks and passes into the oil during pressing. It is separated in a dewaxing process and then purified. It is hard, has a high melting point and is a fully plant-based alternative to beeswax.
In cosmetics, it thickens and stabilises the formula, gives lipsticks firmness and balms a pleasant, compact texture. On the skin and lips, it forms a thin protective film that helps reduce moisture loss and shields against wind and frost.
In our cosmetics, you will find it in lipsticks, body balms, solid shampoo bars and hair conditioner.
Did you know?: Sunflower wax is a by-product of refining sunflower oil - it is removed so the oil does not turn cloudy at low temperatures.
