Urea

Urea

Urea occurs naturally in the stratum corneum as one of the components of the natural moisturizing factor (NMF). Dry skin usually contains less of it, which is why replenishing it with cosmetics works so well.

It binds water in the epidermis and softens it, improving the look of dry, rough skin. It also helps loosen hardened layers, leaving skin smoother. In hair care it moisturizes the strands and makes them easier to manage.

In our cosmetics you will find it in lip balms, face serums, and shampoos and hair conditioners.

Did you know?: Urea was the first organic compound obtained in a laboratory from inorganic substances - Friedrich Wöhler achieved this in 1828. Cosmetic urea is synthetic and not of animal origin.
