Shorea Stenoptera Seed Butter

Illipe butter

Illipe butter (also known as Borneo tallow) is obtained from the seeds of Shorea stenoptera trees, which grow in the rainforests of Borneo. At room temperature it is hard, much like cocoa butter, but it melts on contact with the skin and spreads easily.

It contains mainly stearic, oleic and palmitic acids. It forms a protective layer on the skin that helps limit excessive water loss from the epidermis. It nourishes, softens and smooths rough skin, providing intense nourishment and supporting its renewal.

Thanks to its firm texture, it gives structure to sticks and balms. In our cosmetics, you will find it in body balms, lip balms and face cream masks.

Did you know?: Illipe trees fruit irregularly, usually once every few years, and the seeds are mostly harvested from the wild. Thanks to its similarity to cocoa butter, illipe is also sometimes used in chocolate making.
