Sodium Levulinate
Sodium levulinate
Sodium levulinate is a salt of levulinic acid, which is obtained from plant sugars. It is often combined with other gentle preservative ingredients, such as sodium anisate.
Every water-based cosmetic needs protection against bacteria and mould - sodium levulinate inhibits their growth while being well tolerated by the skin. You will find it in our shampoo, shower gels and facial cleansing foam.
Did you know?: Levulinic acid takes its name from levulose - an old name for fructose - because it can be obtained from plant sugars.
