Tartaric Acid

Tartaric acid

Tartaric acid occurs naturally in grapes, tamarind and other fruits, and is produced industrially mainly as a by-product of winemaking. It belongs to the fruit acids.

In shampoo it balances the pH, matching the product to the scalp and hair. A slightly acidic pH helps close the hair cuticle, leaving strands smoother and shinier. You will find it in our deep cleansing shampoo.

Did you know?: For centuries, tartaric acid has settled in wine barrels as crystals known as wine stones or cream of tartar
