Stearic Acid

Stearic acid

Stearic acid is one of the most common fatty acids found in nature. It occurs in cocoa butter and shea butter, among others. In cosmetics it is used as solid white flakes obtained from plant fats.

It thickens and stabilises emulsions, helps emulsifiers keep water and oils bound together, and acts as an emollient on the skin - smoothing and softening it. In our cosmetics you will find it in face and hand creams, serums, a night mask, lip balm and foundations.

Did you know?: The name stearic acid comes from the Greek word "stear", meaning tallow. Blended with palmitic acid, it is used to make stearin candles
