Palmitic Acid

Palmitic acid

Palmitic acid is one of the most common fatty acids in nature - you will find it in plant butters and oils, as well as in the lipids of the skin's outer layer. Together with ceramides and cholesterol, it forms a barrier that protects the skin from water loss.

In cosmetics, it acts as an emollient: it softens and smooths the skin, supports its barrier and improves the product's texture. You will find it in our face and hand creams, soothing serum and lip balm.

Did you know?: Palmitic acid owes its name to palm oil, which contains large amounts of it.
