Oleic Acid

Oleic acid

Oleic acid is a monounsaturated fatty acid from the omega-9 group. It is the main component of olive oil and is also abundant in avocado oil, almond oil and shea butter, among others. It is naturally present in sebum as well.

On the skin, it acts as an emollient: it softens, smooths and nourishes, while helping to reduce water loss. Combined with linoleic and linolenic acids, it supports the renewal of the skin barrier and works beautifully in caring for dry, rough skin.

You will find it in our hand and face creams, face and eye serums, and lip balm.

Did you know?: Oleic acid takes its name from the Latin "oleum" - oil, as it is the main fatty acid in olive oil.
