Ceramides

Ceramides are lipids that, together with cholesterol and fatty acids, form the "mortar" binding the cells of the stratum corneum. They largely determine how effectively the skin retains water and protects itself from external factors.

When ceramides run low - with age, in dry or atopic-prone skin, or after overly intensive cleansing - the skin dries out faster, flakes and becomes more prone to irritation. Ceramides in cosmetics (NP, NG, NS) replenish what is missing: they strengthen the skin barrier, maintain hydration and support renewal.

You will find them in face creams, eye care products and lip balms. We especially recommend them for dry, sensitive and mature skin.

Did you know?: Ceramides make up around half of all lipids in the stratum corneum. The name comes from the Latin "cera", meaning wax.
