Stearyl Alcohol

Stearyl alcohol

Stearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol most often derived from plant oils. At room temperature, it takes the form of white, waxy flakes.

In cosmetics, it thickens and stabilises emulsions, gives them a creamy texture and acts as an emollient - softening and smoothing the skin. In hair conditioners, it makes detangling easier and smooths the strands. You will find it in our face cream and hair conditioner.

Did you know?: Despite the word alcohol in its name, it has nothing to do with drying ethanol - it is a waxy substance derived from plant fats.
