Lauryl Alcohol
Lauryl alcohol
Lauryl alcohol is a fatty alcohol obtained from plant oils such as coconut oil. Despite its name, it has nothing in common with ethyl alcohol - it doesn't dry out or irritate the skin, but works as an emollient.
It softens and smooths the skin, and in formulas it helps stabilise the emulsion and give the cream a pleasant texture. In our smoothing face cream, it is part of a corneomimetic complex that supports the skin's stratum corneum.
Did you know?: The name comes from the Latin "laurus", meaning laurel - lauric acid, from which this alcohol is derived, was first isolated from laurel seeds.
