Cetearyl Alcohol
Cetearyl alcohol
Cetearyl alcohol is a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohol obtained from plant oils. Despite its name, it has nothing in common with drying ethyl alcohol - it is a waxy fatty substance that acts as an emollient on the skin, softening and smoothing it.
In creams and lotions it provides the right consistency and helps keep the emulsion stable, while in hair conditioners it smooths the strands and makes detangling easier. In our range you'll find it in body lotions, cream-masks, hair conditioners and shampoo bars.
Did you know?: The word "cetyl" comes from the Latin "cetus", meaning whale - cetyl alcohol was first obtained from sperm whale blubber. Today it is made from plant oils
